We offer one standard FM Approved solution for fire-safe and insurable PV roofs: the AllShield BarrierSheet. AllShield Blue remains available as a specialty solution for selected existing roof applications.
For new roofs, roof refurbishment and most existing roofs, the AllShield BarrierSheet is our standard solution. AllShield BarrierSheet is a lightweight, non-combustible mineral Fire board installed beneath a new roof membrane. It adds only around 3 kg/m² and provides a practical, repeatable and economical route to improve the fire performance of roof assemblies with PV.
AllShield Blue is intended for suitable existing watertight roofs where retaining the current roof membrane offers a clear practical advantage. The mineral coating is applied directly over the existing membrane without opening the roof. Application requires suitable weather conditions, specialist application and project-specific assessment.
AllShield Blue is currently available only for selected projects while the application method is being further optimized for efficient large-scale installation. If you believe AllShield Blue may be suitable for your roof, contact us to discuss the project and current availability.
AllShield Blue is applied as a seamless, ceramic top-layer coating over the existing waterproofing membrane. Its non-combustible composition blocks heat and flame from penetrating to the insulation and roof structure. Even in case of fire in a solar panel, the underlying materials do not ignite, preventing spread to adjacent panels. Fire stays localized and extinguishes quickly, often without intervention — making even uninsurable roofs safe for PV systems.
Application of AllShield Blue requires specialist preparation, controlled application and suitable weather conditions. The coating is applied directly onto suitable existing waterproofing membranes, so the roof does not need to be opened. After curing, it forms a seamless mineral protective layer.
Because application is weather-dependent and requires specialist installation, AllShield Blue is currently offered only for selected projects while the application method is being further optimized for efficient large-scale installation.
AllShield Blue is intended for suitable existing flat roofs that are still watertight and where retaining the current waterproofing provides a clear project-specific advantage. The existing membrane, substrate condition, adhesion and compatibility must be assessed before application.
For most roof refurbishment and PV projects, AllShield BarrierSheet is our standard solution.
AllShield Blue has been extensively tested and certified to meet the highest international standards. It holds the following certifications:
→ Tested and listed on FM RoofNav.
→ Protects flat roofs with PV against external fire spread.
→ Tested and listed on FM RoofNav.
→ Suitable for non-combustible roof maintenance applications.
→ Tested for wind uplift resistance at Kiwa-BDA.
→ Proven to stay securely attached under storm wind loads.
→ A1 Non combustable certification.
→ Caloric bomb test.
AllShield Blue is built for durability, safety and seamless integration into existing flat roof systems. Developed through years of research and field experience, it provides a way to improve fire performance while retaining suitable existing waterproofing. Its formulation reflects our commitment to performance, sustainability and ease of application.

Protecting what matters. Insurability starts with evidence. Our projects with AllShield Blue show how passive fire protection, low added roof load and documented system performance can be integrated into real commercial roof-PV projects
For new roofs, roof refurbishment and most existing roofs, AllShield BarrierSheet is our standard solution. It is a lightweight, non-combustible mineral Fire board installed beneath a new waterproofing membrane. It adds only around 3 kg/m² and is far less dependent on weather conditions during installation than a liquid-applied system.
AllShield Blue remains available as a specialty solution for selected existing roof applications where retaining the current waterproofing provides a clear project-specific advantage.
Yes. AllShield Blue is FM 4484 Approved for applicable retrofit coating systems with roof-mounted rigid PV modules and FM 4482 Approved as a roof maintenance coating. The exact roof assembly and application conditions must comply with the applicable FM Approval and RoofNav listing.
A1-certified mineral composition. No plastics. No PFAS. It doesn’t ignite, melt or drip.
Yes. AllShield Blue has been tested in roof assemblies with PV and is FM 4484 Approved for applicable retrofit coating systems with roof-mounted rigid PV modules. It is currently used only for selected projects where the complete roof and PV assembly is suitable.
AllShield Blue is applied directly onto suitable existing waterproofing membranes using specialist application equipment. Surface preparation, adhesion, weather conditions and controlled application are important to achieve the required system performance. The exact application must follow the applicable system specification and FM requirements. AllShield Blue is currently offered only for selected projects.
Some roofing manufacturers may withdraw warranty. Always check with them before applying AllShield Blue.
AllShield Blue forms a seamless, water-resistant protective coating. However, it is not intended to replace the primary waterproofing system or to repair an existing leaking roof. The existing roof membrane must be in a suitable condition before application.
It is resistant to industrial acids like sulfuric and nitric acid — suitable for chemical zones.
AllShield Blue was developed as a durable mineral protection layer. Actual service life depends on the roof substrate, exposure, application quality, maintenance and project conditions. Inspection and maintenance requirements should therefore be determined for the specific roof system.
Works well on roofs with EPS, PIR, PUR insulationthe AllShield Blue covers the watertight roofing membrane and protect the underlayeing layers and building.
AllShield Blue has been independently evaluated in fire and roof-system testing, including FM Approvals, Efectis and Kiwa BDA. It is FM 4482 Approved as a roof maintenance coating and FM 4484 Approved for applicable retrofit coating systems with roof-mounted rigid PV modules. Kiwa BDA has also tested roof assemblies incorporating AllShield Blue with PV according to the principles of CLC/TR 50670.
AllShield develops mineral-based coatings and barriers for fire safety, acid resistance and structural durability — with no plastics, no PFAS and a low CO₂ footprint.
Yes. AllShield Blue and BarrierSheets are A1 certified.
Yes. Proven on over 80% of standard materials including steel, EPS, PIR, PUR, bitumen, PVC, TPO, EPDM (for BarrierSheet), wood and concrete.
Industrial, commercial and critical infrastructure buildings, especially those with flat roofs, PV systems, chemical zones or aging membranes.
Yes. AllShield products are VOC-free, REACH-compliant and developed to reduce the environmental impact of the built environment.
