AllShield, developer of the non-combustible BarrierSheet® for commercial roofs with solar panels, has raised €4.7 million. The round was led by Move Energy, with participation from new and existing shareholders. The capital will be used to expand AllShield's new factory in Ter Aar, scale its European rollout through an exclusive commercial partnership with Owens Corning, and prepare its first production line in the United States.
The rapid growth of solar panels on commercial and industrial roofs is putting the fire safety of complete roof constructions in the spotlight for building owners, insurers and risk engineers.
AllShield's BarrierSheet® is a thin, lightweight and non-combustible (Euroclass A1) fire barrier, installed between the roof insulation and the roof covering to limit fire spread through the roof. The solution is included in FM Approvals-assessed roof assemblies (FM 4470 and FM 4478), has completed the EOTA/EAD process for CE marking and has passed further European fire tests, including BROOF(t1).
After years of development, testing and certification, AllShield is now moving to production at scale. The company recently opened a 3,700 m² production facility and office in Ter Aar. With the new funding, AllShield will further expand this factory to meet growing demand from the Netherlands, Germany and the rest of Europe.
This growth will be accelerated by a sales and distribution partnership with Owens Corning, a leader in building products. Only available through Owens Corning's European network, the BarrierSheet® will reach roofers, contractors and building owners across Europe in 2027 and 2028, allowing AllShield to significantly accelerate its revenue growth in the years ahead.
At the same time, AllShield is preparing to cross the Atlantic. The company is setting up its first production line in the United States, where a team is ready to lead the rollout.
“A new product doesn't become successful just by building a factory,” says Hugo Noordhoek Hegt, CEO of AllShield. “It has to be integrated into the complete roof construction and ultimately accepted by designers, roofers, building owners and insurers. With this investment and our partnership with Owens Corning, we can accelerate our growth in Europe and take the next step towards the United States.”
“Rooftop solar is one of the fastest routes to a sustainable energy system, but fire safety is increasingly holding that growth back,” says Friso Bensdorp, Partner at Move Energy. “AllShield has a proven, certified solution that tackles this problem at the level of the complete roof build-up. With its own factory, a strong distribution partner and concrete plans for the United States, the team is ready to scale internationally. We look forward to supporting the team in this next phase.”

Flat roofs with solar PV require fire protection that considers the complete roof assembly. AllShield BarrierSheet is our standard solution for new construction and roof refurbishment, installed beneath a new waterproofing membrane. AllShield Blue is a specialist alternative for selected existing roofs where retaining the current waterproofing provides a clear practical advantage.
