On large commercial roofs, passive fire protection must also be practical to install. AllShield BarrierSheet can be incorporated into the PIR roofing workflow using familiar roofing equipment, while the final fixing pattern remains determined by the installation guide and project-specific wind-uplift requirements.
Installation time, labour and logistics have a direct effect on the economics of large commercial roofs. AllShield BarrierSheet is therefore designed to fit into normal roofing operations rather than requiring a separate specialist installation process.
AllShield recommends mechanical fixing with roofing screws and stress plates. For standard applications, the recommended six-fixing pattern provides a simple and practical installation method. The final arrangement should follow the current installation guide together with the substrate, project conditions and applicable wind-uplift requirements.
BarrierSheet can be placed above PIR insulation before the waterproofing membrane is completed, allowing the insulation, protective layer and waterproofing to be coordinated within one roofing workflow. At 2.5 mm thickness and approximately 3 kg/m², the additional layer also has limited impact on material handling and permanent roof load.
The standard BarrierSheet installation guidance and a specific FM Approved assembly do not necessarily use the same fixing arrangement. For FM projects, the applicable RoofNav assembly and Approval Report PR472014 remain the reference.
In RoofNav assembly 568563-0-0, the 2.5 mm BarrierSheet is added to the top insulation layer and installed loose laid, while the roof cover is mechanically attached in accordance with the listed system requirements. In standard applications outside that FM configuration, AllShield recommends mechanical fixing with roofing screws and stress plates in accordance with the installation guide and project-specific wind-uplift design.
The installation advantage is therefore not based on one universal fixing pattern. It is that BarrierSheet can be incorporated using familiar roofing processes while the required attachment is adapted to the roof system.
In the tested ZAG roof-PV configurations, BarrierSheet prevented direct flame penetration into deeper structural layers. This allows passive protection to be added without introducing a completely separate installation trade or a heavy additional roof layer.

Flat roofs with solar PV require fire protection that considers the complete roof assembly. AllShield BarrierSheet is our standard solution for new construction and roof refurbishment, installed beneath a new waterproofing membrane. AllShield Blue is a specialist alternative for selected existing roofs where retaining the current waterproofing provides a clear practical advantage.
